Liverpool have held talks with Ndiaye’s representatives, but face stiff competition from Manchester United and Arsenal. Everton are reportedly holding out for a fee of around £75 million, which would make Ndiaye one of the most expensive signings in Premier League history. The Senegalese forward’s pace and pressing ability make him an ideal fit for Andoni Iraola’s system.
A move for Ndiaye would shatter the transfer record between Liverpool and Everton, which currently stands at £8 million for Nick Barmby in 2000. It would also be the first transfer involving a fee between the two clubs in 25 years. The last transfer between the clubs was Abel Xavier in 2001 for around £1 million.
If Liverpool secure Ndiaye’s signature, it could pave the way for Cody Gakpo to make a rumoured move to Tottenham Hotspur. Gakpo’s potential departure would leave a gap in Liverpool’s attack, but Ndiaye’s arrival would provide much-needed depth and dynamism. The Reds scored 63 goals last season, conceding 53, and finished 25 points behind leaders Arsenal.
