Liverpool FC have launched an official poetry collection by lifelong supporter Joseph Roberts, celebrating the unique culture and identity of the club and its city. The book, titled 'Built Different', is published by Reach Sport and is available now from official club stores and online.
Joseph Roberts, an award-winning poet and spoken-word artist, has compiled a selection of new and favourite poems written in his distinctive Scouse voice. The collection explores the bond between football, community and identity, reflecting the humour, resilience and everyday experiences of being a lifelong Red. It also tackles the serious issue of racism in football.
"I’ve always believed Liverpool is a city built on stories, and Liverpool FC is at the heart of so many of them," Roberts said.
The launch comes as the first team enjoys a strong run of form, sitting fourth in the Premier League with 15 points from eight matches. Jürgen Klopp's side are unbeaten in their last five games across all competitions, a sequence that includes a 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Tuesday and a 2-0 win over Brighton last weekend. They are six points behind leaders Manchester City. Their recent form of four wins and a draw in the last five fixtures, which also includes victories over Brentford, Villarreal, and Lask Linz, has stays. The team has scored 11 goals and conceded eight this league season.
Alexander Isak is the club's top scorer this season with six goals, a contribution that has been vital. The team's next challenge is a significant one, hosting second-placed Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday 1 November.
'Built Different' serves as a tribute to the club, the city of Liverpool and its people, aiming to capture the emotions and sense of belonging shared by supporters across generations and around the globe. The collection is on sale now.
