Liverpool F.C. is thought to be among the clubs considering a move for the German wonderkid Kennet Eichhorn, who has impressed for Hertha Berlin in the 2. Bundesliga. All-action Hertha Berlin midfielder Kennet Eichhorn is attracting interest from some of Europe's biggest clubs, with Liverpool tipped to be a major contender for his signature by German sources. Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen are also said to be keen on Eichhorn, 16, who has established himself as a regular feature in the second tier. Hertha Berlin finished seventh in the standings and therefore will remain outside of the top flight next term. According to Sky Germany, Bayern Munich has dropped out of the transfer race for Eichhorn, who debuted for Hertha just a couple of weeks after his 16th birthday, becoming the youngest player to feature in the 2. Bundesliga in the process. Eichhorn would need to turn 17 before he could move to England, while Bayern Munich has supposedly been put off by the asking price of around $12 million (£9 million). At Hertha, Eichhorn has proven to be comfortable under pressure, and he combines strong game intelligence with technical quality, defensive diligence, and a high work ethic. Rated by many as one of the standout talents in his age group in the world, Eichhorn's passing accuracy is high, and he is also good at anticipating where opposition passes might be heading. "The way he plays is remarkable," Toni Kroos said. "He radiates calm, he’s gaining valuable experience but is allowed to make mistakes. I hope he continues to develop at Hertha." Moving to a club like Bayer Leverkusen or RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga could mean Eichhorn continuing to play regularly. As Kroos says, he needs to have a clear pathway to minutes. There will be no qualms over what the future of academy prospects at Liverpool might look like under incoming head coach Andoni Iraola, however. Under Arne Slot, the likes of Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni were given senior minutes. Kieran Morrison and others were regulars on the bench, and that will continue into the new era. Liverpool FC have launched their new home kit for the 2026/27, inspired by iconic adidas strip worn during the club's 1989/90 title-winning campaign. "I think his impact on the squad was made clear by their reaction to the announcement that he would be leaving — they were even more motivated to achieve European football to send Iraola out on a high," Cherries reporter Alex Smith told Liverpool.com this week. "His work with young players, too, is brilliant — he is never afraid to throw young players into games and trusts them and their ability, giving them plenty of opportunity with the team. "I think Dominik Szoboszlai will continue to be key for Liverpool under Iraola, while young players like Ngumoha will get plenty of opportunity to flourish.
