Jamie Carragher has warned that Federico Chiesa and Wataru Endo will never play for Liverpool F.C. This season after being omitted from the Champions League squad. Daily Mirror Football first reported the story.
The Liverpool F.C. Legend made the stark assessment on Sky Sports, saying the duo have been effectively written off despite being included in the club’s Premier League list submitted earlier this summer. Carragher said: "Liverpool have got two players in the squad who are never going to play."
He added: "They have got Chiesa and Endo. It's like they are never going to kick a ball."
Chiesa, the Liverpool F.C. Winger, has been sidelined for the first two Premier League games due to a back injury, while Endo, the Liverpool F.C. Japan international midfielder, returned to fitness after an ankle injury disrupted last season but was left on the bench for both opening fixtures. Neither will feature in the Champions League in the first half of the season.
Liverpool F.C. Submitted their Champions League squad to UEFA on Friday, favouring Giovanni Leoni, Conor Bradley, and Hugo Ekitike over Chiesa and Endo. Chiesa may get his chance in the Premier League once he recovers from his injury.
