Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Cam Williams to his first professional contract, securing the future of a promising academy left-back. The 17-year-old, who has been with the club since the age of six, put pen to paper at the AXA Training Centre on Tuesday.
Williams missed almost the entirety of last season due to a long-term injury but returned at the start of the current campaign. He has since made 14 appearances for the Under-18 side, contributing two goals and two assists, with almost all of those outings coming in the 2024/25 season.
"I'm over the moon to sign my first professional contract with Liverpool FC," Williams said.
Academy manager Neil Critchley praised the defender's resilience. "Cam has shown great attitude and application throughout his recovery and deserves this reward," Critchley said.
A Scotland Under-17 international, Williams has progressed through several age groups and now competes for backup left-back minutes in a squad that includes Milos Kerkez, Luke Chambers and Owen Beck. His development comes as Liverpool, currently ninth in the Premier League with nine points from six games, assess their defensive options ahead of a trip to fourth-placed Brentford on Saturday.
The club's recent form reads three wins, one draw and one defeat from the last five matches. Williams will now aim to break into the Under-21 setup and push for senior involvement, with his next steps tracked on the club's squad and fixtures pages.
