Liverpool have made four changes to their starting lineup for Wednesday's Champions League group stage match away to LASK in Austria. Manager Andoni Iraola has rotated his side, handing a first senior start to 17-year-old midfielder Trey Nyoni.
The Reds, sitting ninth in the Premier League after a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City last weekend, are without eight senior players due to injury and ineligibility. Key forwards Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo are sidelined, while Dominik Szoboszlai misses out with a hamstring issue. This forces Lewis Koumas to continue as the lead striker, supported by wingers Rio Ngumoha and Bradley Barcola.
Confirmed starting XI and substitutions
Alisson Becker starts in goal behind a back four of Jeremie Frimpong, Ronald Araujo, Jeremy Jacquet and captain Kostas Tsimikas. Nyoni partners Ryan Gravenberch and Florian Wirtz in a reshaped midfield, with Wataru Endo ineligible for the Champions League squad. Virgil van Dijk, Alexis Mac Allister and Milos Kerkez are among the substitutes, providing experience on the bench.
Iraola's selection reflects the need to manage a squad handling a congested schedule of nine European games in 28 days. The team will look to build on their opening 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid and improve on a domestic record of two wins, three draws and one loss from six games.
The match kicks off at 17:45 BST at the Raiffeisen Arena. Liverpool's next fixture is a Premier League trip to face fourth-placed Brentford on Saturday, 17 October.
